No way was I going to watch that and then freaking CNN even has a story and pops it up as a notification. So I caved. At least I’m in the know but there may be something good about not having kids in the house.

I don't know ... I was more intrigued by the "winner winner, mustard algae dinner" at the top of your screen.

I could see how that might really be intriguing. I should have cropped that. Just for clarification that is from a pool maintenance forum - troublefreepool.com. One of the last things you want in your pool is mustard algae. It is apparently very hard to kill.

My car's name is the same as my username - Nautilus - for three reasons:
  1. Like the Model 3, the USS Nautilus represented the cutting edge of technology for it's time (first nuclear-powered ship).
  2. I am indeed an ex-submariner, and it's much easier to explain Nautilus than "Bluefish" (the name of the sub I actually served on).
  3. (and most embarrassing...) As a tribute to my first car. Story follows: As a senior in high school (and long before I had any notion of joining the Navy), I was taking my girlfriend to go meet some other friends at a local pizza place. 17 year old genius that I was, I decided (over my girlfriend's objections) to take a shortcut. The shortcut was a dirt road. It was winter, with snow on the ground and ice where there had been puddles. It was dark and about 20F. I was driving along when we hit a snow/ice-covered giant puddle concealing a large dip in the road that had filled with water. It swallowed my car ('69 Plymouth Valiant) up to the hub caps. While the engine still worked, I could not get us out, no matter how much I rocked the car back and forth. Luckily, the pizza place was only a 15 minute walk away, so I left my girlfriend in the car, telling her to lock herself in, and went for help (late 70s - no cell phones). I drove back with my friends who were all waiting for my girlfriend and me at the pizza place. When they saw the predicament I had gotten into (and the fact that my girlfriend was still seriously steamed at me...) they started killing themselves laughing and I knew I'd never hear the end of it. With two girls in the backseat and another two sitting on the trunk for better rear wheel traction, and three guys pushing, we eventually did get the car out of the puddle. I then drove around the long way to meet everyone back at the pizza place. From that day on, my car was mercilessly known as "the Nautilus" for its ability to submerge....

Happy memories! :)

Maybe a bit unimaginative. But I have called mine:
Blue Wonder
It really feels wondrous to drive.

My 3 is named Chunky Butt, which is an homage to my 4 year old daughter. She's 90th% for height and about 20th% for weight, so no pants ever fit her without falling down or us seeing constant butt crack. We used to endearingly call her chunky butt since she is the polar opposite of the name. She was about 2 when we put our reservation in, so the 3 was named way in advance of it's birth.

The wife's S is Lemon Tart since she's an aspiring baker.

I'm thinking of calling mine Eve (E-V) both as an homage to Wall-E character and of course the obvious.
Too blah?
