I just met a guy who just took delivery of a dual motor with the white interior. I always thought the white interior comes with a white dash, his is wood. Is this just an anomaly or does anyone else have white with wood? The Tesla website shows a white dash if you order white interior so I'm wondering if this was just pushing cars out the door for Q3 and maybe they did not have enough of the white dashes. Anyway I really liked the way it looked, here is a pic.....

Sadly that sounds like Tesla making every possible car they can with the parts on hand. Or it could just be an accident going down the assembly line, it does happen. I've seen lots of pics over time with assembly line mistakes.

Then there is always Johnny Cash and "One Piece at a time" - we aren't quite to that point yet though.

Two other people have noted this build error in their cars.

View attachment 14939 I picked up my car in Mt Kisco yesterday (2 hrs away). Was told the whole process would be about 10 minutes. As soon as I saw the car I knew something was wrong. I had ordered white interior but it had the wood grain trim on the dash. They had no clue that it was wrong and had to look at other cars to confirm it. I was asked “ but don’t you like it?”, and I said it isn’t what I ordered or expected. They tried to make me take it saying that it was “one of a kind” but I refused. I was there another THREE hours before they said the only thing they could do is order a new part and I could return to have it fixed ( another four hrs driving). I insisted that they do a mobile repair and they said they would look into it. I also politely asked for some sort of compensation like a 100 dollar super charger credit for the inconvenience and they told me Tesla doesn’t do that, (despite seeing multiple posters here saying otherwise).
The car is awesome and I am very happy and It’s not a major issue especially with so many people waiting for their car but for 60k one would expect better oversight and better customer treatment.
The same thing happened to me on my delivery this past Monday. I was shown by my delivery agent that day that the design center within the store had all the trims for Tesla and white clearly wasn't an option. After insisting that there is a white trim, the agent checked with another specialist and came back saying that wood is the only trim Tesla has for the Model 3.. I proceeded to walk to their showroom P3D and the agent was so confused... Even I was confused on how the delivery agent knew so little about the Model 3.

They said that they would take care of it and said "Have a good day" I was like... really...? I then messaged the delivery specialist since he wasn't in, and he forwarded me to other customer service reps in NV/CA to finally get this rectified. Honestly, I don't hate the wood trim and kind of like the uniqueness, but I did order the white! Despite the not so great delivery experience I absolutely love my AWD Model 3 and the handling!

On another note, while my agent was checking on Model 3 trims, I had a great conversation with one of the showroom guys who said that they don't know how the agent didn't know there was a white trim, and he gave me some tips on cleaning the white interior! He said that this is the product the detailers in their service center clean the white seats. Although, I would suggest doing a 5-10% mixture of this with the remaining being distilled water.

MUCH nicer than the white dash, which I thought looked very plastic. Plus, a bright reflective white dash seems like a possible problem for drivers -- the wood dash never sends any reflections my way, even in the constant bright Hawaii sun. (Note: I have not driven a Model 3 with white dash, so I do not know what would really happen.)

It looks like a mistake. Just a personal preference but I do not like the look of a black center console and armrest with all seats being white. Just doesn't look right.

Here is another example where the door panel is mis-matched for a white interior Model 3...

That's a weird one -- you'd think QC would have noticed, or, if not, the buyer...

I prefer the wood because it's less reflective.

There is some kind of magic voodoo on the white trim that somehow makes it not reflective.

I do like the wood trim in my car, but the white trim is really nice as well.

Yup. You would think QC would have caught that. The customer did notice but it becomes a inconvenience issue where they would have to schedule time to get the parts swap out...either through mobile service or drive it back to the SC which could be at a considerable distance from their home. I understand Tesla is in a big push to deliver cars and make a profit but at the expense of a great customer experience is not good. I am sure they are working to reduce these types of mistakes.

I liked the white interior but couldn't live with that white stripe across the dash. The wood trim actually goes better with the white seats than the dark upholstery. I might have ordered a white interior if it came with wood trim.

If this really is a mistake, it reminds me of Ducati motorcycles in the 1970's. They had beautiful lacquered tanks, although done quite crudely. It was not uncommon to find a small insect caught in the lacquer in all of its 3D glory. Very collectible. People put up with the little idiosyncrasies because the product underneath was so compelling.

These might become collectors pieces someday. You never know...
I used to collect vintage (50+ years-old) Barbie dolls and clothes ;-) You'd come across crazy finds in sealed factory boxes where dolls would have a body from one series, but a head from another series, or with outfits cut and sewn precisely as the standard outfit for that designation, but using fabric normally used for another outfit, etc..
Mattel was so busy turning out dolls and clothes and so concerned about not letting parts and labor go to waste that it assembled products with whatever was available and would fit. Some of these "mixes" came out looking odd, but many came out looking great and making one wish that they had been produced that way regularly.

Sounds like Tesla is doing the same in its rush to end Q3 with a positive cash flow.

Needless to say, all of these Barbie variants now command much larger prices than the regular products, so you're right on that.
The catch is that doll changes like a head swap were also made constantly by little girls playing with their Barbie dolls and so cannot be authenticated as factory products -- you need the doll factory-sealed to be sure. The same problem may arise for a wood dash on a white interior, since I understand it is feasible for an individual to remove the dash cover and put it back in -- and we have plenty of car aficionados who might want to swap one dash cover for another ;-)

I love my white interior... and I am not a fan of the wood dash (standard color).

I do wish, however, the white interior came with maybe a black wood dash or an aluminum metal piece.

I don't mind the looks of the white trim so much as I feel like for $1500 extra.. I should receive the same "quality" or better.

But trading an actual piece of wood for plastic seems like... a step backwards on the "high end, high price" spectrum.

My premium white interior M3 came with a brown wood dash trim. Several other white interior M3's on the delivery station lot had a white trim strip.

Seems consistency is not a strong point.

That makes mine at least the third "brown wood trim strip across dash Unicorn" premium white interior M3 then.

Took pics of two other premium white interior M3s at the delivery center and they both had a white dash strip.

Wow. I can’t believe how many people that has happened too. That’s definitely a mistake. Tesla advertises the white dash trim.

But if you are ok with the looks I would keep it as it will be extremely rare lol
