I was just told the production cars are currently sporting the "premium" interior option. Same source also said the white seats are "coming".

In any case we'll have to wait and see what Tesla has to offer but it wouldn't surprise me the dash and interior finishes stay consistent (all black with wood trim on the top) but also offering different coloured seats. They just updated the Model S with a new "cream interior" which is quite nice. All of the interior options on Model S are now vegan. No more leather!

UPDATE:

Elon confirmed all-vegan option will be available on Model 3

I like how they simplified options. Very easy to choose and comprehend.

With 3 we will see following.

Interior colors
Exterior colors
Premium upgrade package
Battery size
Dual motors
Ap
Fsd

So simple and easy to choose and customize your car.

That sucks. I absolutely despise fake leather. I hate it. I don't care if you call it vegan or not. It is not a quality replacement for good leather (maybe for crap leather).
I am in favor of just vegan leather option. Makes sense for them to do this. It simplifies things, makes it easy for them to scale and reduces marginal costs.

I assume it lasts longer and easy to maintain as well.

I am so excited about the all vegan materials (excluding the steering wheel for now). It makes sense that a company trying to save the planet from climate change would also use this rationale with the materials they use. Wahooo!

do you know how that material is manufactured? is it gentler to the environment than processing leather?

This seems in line with the thinking that standard and performance are not available at launch but "premium" would be the starting point. It's all coming together!

Side note, that Tweet from Elon is from April 2016...

I can't disagree more. The more choices the better. Bring it on, I can handle it.

I've never seen a group of people argue for fewer choices (OK maybe at Cheesecake Factory). It makes me sad. :(
It's in line with the mission of moving to sustainable transport. Not to mention a backlog of half a million cars to make. Making the same car over and over and changing the paint color is going to be much easier!

Over time you'll see more options.

Still though a full custom spec may be reserved for S/X.

We should know in a few days!

I really like the new cream interior color they introduced on S/X. In fact, I like the cream/dark wood combo, too.
I'd get that for sure, if it's availalble, because I really like light colored interiors, but white is a little too much.

I agree. I think it would look great with either the Red or the Blue...

I understand why they are doing it, but I am not the CEO nor a major stock holder. I am a (possible) customer, and have my own mission. ;)

why would you assume that? I assume it would be more prone to punctures or tears.
I've had a gray Vegan interior for about 3 years now, about 45K miles with a small dog scrambling around the interior. It is not leather, my car manufacturer didn't claim it was leather. It is a material called Vegan and should not be compared to leather other than it kind of looks like leather. That would be like comparing apples to oranges. It has been tough as nails, no punctures, no tears, no sagging, no puckering, looks like new. I will happily accept a Vegan interior in my TESLA 3.

And some of us who will wait a lot longer than a few days will continue to hope they will have more choices...

HUD, little HUD... where are you...? :D
