I've just logged in to My Tesla, and noticed a new section that wasn't there before:

"Private Number Plate
If you intend to use a private number plate, you may indicate your selection here."

Why should Tesla be interested, and what difference does it make?

There was a conversation about this on the TMC forum, and sounds like this is UK specific. You may want to check with a local store for clarification.

It is mine too, I think it may be due to having the car registered and taxed

Same when I get my new cars, my private plate sometimes is the first plate for the car and therefore the DVLA have to sort everything prior before the car being road worthy

You have to pay a First Registrarion fee to get your first plate - this is £50. However, if transferring a Private Plate / Cherished Number you will either have already paid the £80 transfer fee (if a certificate retention) or be asked to pay it to take the number from your donor vehicle.

By declaring this up front, the £50 'First Registration' is avoided and (should) reduce the On The Road price of your Model 3!

I don’t seem to have the private plate option. Pity as I have my plate ready and waiting! Will have to ask at the Tesla shop. Thanks for the info
