Yeah, I like to see them continuing to drive down the price of the S.

If that price included the 100kWh battery and autopilot, I'd jump in. I really want 300+ miles of range. So I'll keep waiting for the 3.

It was a mistake, I was playing around with the S configurator and clicked SAVE DESIGN which puts in a reservation into your My Tesla account. No deposit was made, and won't, so it just sits in limbo. Just thought I'd share my folly :)

Just goes to show how quickly this can be done... It's the 'would you like to proceed with payment now?' step which is more complex... ;)

@TrevP,
Yea....I knew that, however it was fun to play 'devils advocate'!!! :) NOW you'll always have the S on one shoulder and the 3 on the other shoulder 'prodding' you! Or you could look at it this way....every time you log on to My Tesla you'll have that pre-config on the S staring you in the face....(Elon would love that)!!! After all he HAS been downplaying the 3 and talking up the S, you're just helping him out! :)

I reserved my Model 3 online just before the Unveil on March 31st. If I read Trev's post correctly, I had a "maybe somewhat" similar experience last year after going to a Tesla Test Drive Event and taking a Model S P90D(L, I think) for a drive. Wow! It was an AMAZING experience! The NICEST (most expensive) car I'd ever driven! But even though I told the "sales rep." that I was a Model 3 Reservationist; that I really just wanted a 'Tesla fix'; that I couldn't afford a Model S--if I wanted to maintain our "happy home"--after my ride, the "sales rep." sat me at a computer and basically said, "Just for fun, let's just see what a Model S would cost and see what options you'd like ... you know, just to see if maybe you could afford one." I played along and configured a nice--but not super-extravagant--Model S (I don't remember exactly what I configured. That's all a blur). At her instruction, I Saved the Model S to the MyTesla page ("so you can come back and reconfigure it, if you want," she said)--where my Model 3 reservation already existed. I said good-bye and left. When I got home, my wife, who just happened to be checking our email, saw words to the effect from Tesla saying, "Congratulations on purchasing your NEW Model S." (I can only imagine the look on her face as she read that.) After some heartfelt explaining that I just went for a ride; I didn't buy one. I went to the MyTesla page and tried to figure out how to delete the Model S WITHOUT cancelling my Model 3 reservation. I couldn't. I ended up calling Tesla, out in California (I'm in Delaware), told them what happened, and asked them to delete the Model S but "please, please don't delete my Model 3 reservation." Man, that was close. Although I'd love a Model S, it's still too expensive for our budget and too big for our garage. But--just like you--I'm SO looking forward to my Model 3. The wait continues. (Thanks for taking the time to read my post.)

@Charlie W , consider yourself lucky! If my wifey would have read such an e-mail, she probably would have had me cancel both the S and the ≡ !! :D

Just to drive myself crazy, I regularly price the Model S just to double check myself.

Given the price change on the Model S 75 and newly standard options, it's certainly more attractive.

That said, it still just doesn't make financial sense for me.

With no options, it's a 70k car before taxes.

My Model 3 for what I hope is in the $47-48k range will have a sunroof, premium color, sunroof, Autopilot, 20" rims, leather, enhanced audio.

The Model S will be solid black (told myself I'd never get a black car again), have a fixed roof, no autopilot, 19" rims (which look tiny on the S), textile seats, and basic audio.

Sadly, I can't do it.

Reconfirmed (not that there was really ever a doubt) the Model 3 is going to be amazing and I can't wait for mine!

how many sunroofs do you need? ;)
I'm also in the upper $40,000s as a goal (max $50k) and you just can't get that, even on a CPO, with an S

I was worried Trev jumped ship on us too. I was thinking with a new S, would he have the Model 3 drive he has had to this date? And right before crossing the finish line for the flood of all the info?!

I was wondering about the pricing of the S. With all the efficiencies and cost savings with new tech they might be starting to see, could the model S and X come down a little bit in price and get into some of our ranges for being somewhat affordable?

I mean I think a Model 3 will be a great car with it's options, but I drive a full sized right now, and will probably be sacrificing some space with the 3. So I'm hoping when I get a chance to check it out, I feel like I could make that work. The backup plan though if I can't quite accept something(s) about the 3 is to keep pinching pennies for a few years and maybe save up a larger downpayment for a used 2017 S with AP2? :D

Lol, you can never have enough :)

Yeah used S's seem to bottom out around $50k. At that point auto pilot hardware is not typical.

I also prefer the new nose on the S.
