The connectors finally showed up today so I could finish my LED bar. It's got an OE equivalent socket that allows it to plug into the Tesla connector like the trunk light does. It's got silicone jacketed wire covered with expandable sleeving. The housing is black extruded aluminum and it's got a milky white diffuser so there are no hot spots from the LEDs.

Here are some in-use pictures. It installs quickly and easily with 3m VHB tape and there's one plastic fastener you can remove to get easier access to the wiring and trunk light. If you look closely in this picture you can see the wiring exiting the left of the LED bar

This picture just shows the interface with the OE connector. It tucks neatly behind this panel as you can see in the previous picture.

Awesome job! What is the diffuser from? Or really the entire enclosure...it all looks like it was commercially made!

The enclosure is some stuff I had left over from another project. It's pretty cost prohibitive to buy it just for this :)

Can you provide the connector part numbers? Interested in doing something similar; if both pin and socket shells are available, possibly a parallel install.

Unless you've already got the crimpers it's going to cost a lot of money to get the parts to build the connectors. If you've got a pull-a-part nearby you can raid the tag light and interior light connectors of most Volkswagen Auto Group cars (VW, Audi) and grab some pigtails. Either that or get these extenders and modify them to be a splitter.

I have dozens of crimpers, and access to more. I don't have a part number. Are you saying it's a VWG 1J0973702 (TE 1-1438608-1)? That's a common VW/Audi two-pin, but it doesn't look right from the pictures.

A-ha -- one of the pictures from evtuningsolutions.com was zoomable and had enough clues. It is in TE's MQS line, but it is not the D-style. For future reference, it appears to be:

Sockets side:
housing 1-1534113-1
retainer 1534112-1
sockets 5-928999-6

Pins side
housing 1-1534155-1
retainer 1534027-1
pins 1-928918-1
