I picked up my car because they had it 6 days and did not do any work yet cause they are waiting for a new charge port. However I discovered what parts they had received they left in the car. :smilingimp:

Picture time!!!

Mirror, center console, and ECU(?!) - at least that’s what the packaging says.

In California it is the law that a repair shop you may request that the repair shop return to you any parts that are replaced.
This law was enacted a long time ago to prevent shops from saying that they replaced parts that were never replaced. I suspect instead of storing them in case you want them, they just left them for you.

I’m more surprised by the surplus of scotch tape (I hope they’re not using that during repairs!) and the occupied aquarium!!

These are brand new, haven’t been installed yet. I picked up my car because It was just sitting on their lot for the past week without any work being done and I was tired of driving the Wimpy Wonder. When I picked it up I found they had left this stuff in it. :)

Looks like there is a clip on the upper part of the mirror trim. I can't imagine that the trim would separate if that clip was always there and working as designed. Maybe the clip is new or they improved the attachment?

When they change it out, I’ll request to keep the old mirror if they let me. Maybe my clip broke for whatever reason so it was pulling away. But it might have something to do with where it clips. I would imagine it has some kind of rubber the clip holds against so it has a little give for when the window puts pressure against it when fully closed.

My thoughts of possible points of failure are:
  • Clip broke
  • Rubber restraint the clip hold against somehow shifted or is misaligned.
  • Current mirror has different style clip that doesn’t work well and this is a revision on new part. (Like you think brokedoc)

Thanks. Yeah, that maroon one is definitely an RF connector.

Whoa! That's an antenna/coax cable built in to the mirror. Can you post a pic of the RF connector on the end?
I wonder what that is for, and if there's a matching antenna in the other mirror?
You can see the antenna lines in the flex PCB on the bottom of the mirror.
Most likely bluetooth to detect presence of phone approaching the door.
