We had thunderstorms today and the access panel to the attic in the garage fell on my barely 3 weeks old Model 3 cracking the roof:

The sad part is that the same access panel fell on my other car couple months ago and my landlord was supposed to have it fixed it properly. I’m so mad!! Moral of the story - watch where you park!

EDIT:
Here’s the after repair pic:

Anyways has anyone had their roof replaced/repaired and know how long it takes for Tesla approved body shop to make the fixes?
Ouch x 2.

If it were just glass damage it would be faster but the body damage will take much longer with the dent repair and repainting. See the time lapse video of the quarter panel replacement. https://teslaownersonline.com/threa...-model-3-rear-quarter-panel-replacement.7236/

Sorry to hear about the damage.

If you have a laser, get some duct tape and tape the cover in place. I mean REALLY tape it in place! That should stop it from causing further damage.

Laser?!? Really? I meant ladder.

Seriously! I am crying inside seeing that happen to a MCR 3. I assume you are going after the Landlord on this ...

What? Really? That glass in hard like a windshield. If that was metal it would have a huge dent. Same difference
A Norma roof doesn’t shatter like the glass roof will though. I agree same effect here but let’s say some jealous person takes a hammer to the top of a 3 versus a normal roof. Dent versus completely shattered roof. Both are bad. I see your point, but cleaning up the shattered roof is harder than the dented roof I would think (as long as they didn’t break the windows too)

A lot less labor in replacing glass vs. dent repair and re-painting.

Sorry for this happening. I hope your landlord takes care of it.

I'm interested in what the replacement cost ends up being. Windshield repairs are not too pricey, and this is basically a windshield (with heavy tint) on the roof.

There’s a video on YouTube saying the model 3 windshield replacement is $1100. Seems steep for a windshield?

I've replaced only one windshield in almost 4 decades of driving but, if I recall, a few years ago Mazda CX-5 owners were paying around $800 for windshield replacement if it had auto-sensing wipers, etc. The Model 3 windshield is considerably bigger and needs the "tech pod" under the glass taken care of (and who knows what else), so that doesn't sound too far out of line. I think the Model 3 windshield is less likely to break than the CX-5 since it is so steeply raked in comparison.

For anyone reading this thread, treat your car like a child. We child-proof drawers and cabinets to protect little ones. I suspect a simple hasp and padlock installation ($10) could have prevented this baby getting damaged. If you are preparing to bring your new M3 home look around your garage. Secure storage racks to the walls for example. Do not place heavy objects on upper shelves next to your car. And for you folks still living in CA be extra vigilant with anything that could swing against your car in an earthquake.

There is not a single repair that can be done inexpensively to a Tesla.
