You can click on the supercharger map and now zoom in to see the "upcoming" locations. Interestingly, several existing stations are now shown as "coming in 2017", which i assume means they are being renovated/expanded. Curious if those locations are actually down now for construction or if they're still functioning / being worked on adjacently.

Nice! That was my biggest pet-peeve with the old supercharger map.

I'm glad to see that they're finally going to add a station to I80 in western PA. Unfortunately, they have no plans as of yet to install one near Altoona, which would have been a better location for me.

It's exciting to see all the new upcoming locations! At first I didn't notice them until my brain started looking for grey...
Especially considering the popularity of Teslas here, I have always considered the supercharger coverage in Boston inadequate. I've been watching the superchare.info website for the last year for new construction, but there is very little.
Now it's much easier to see there is no need for range anxiety

Today, Tesla reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring supercharging for all. Traveling and local public as well (how many new Tesla owners don't have a dedicated garage? How many live in apartments or condos without their own parking spot.)

Tesla's post can be found here.

I picked up on this part of the new Tesla blogpost "convenient, abundant, and reliable for all owners, current and future" and had some thoughts in an article I wrote on my blog.

Basically, I prefer to supercharge when I'm taking a trip, but some Tesla brethren still prefer to travel with their Roadsters, and some have Model S 40s which don't have supercharging capability, but have at least the relatively speedy 10kWh single charger or the 20kWh double charger options enabled (to charge at a relatively quick 58 miles per hour.)...

So, why not have a couple of stalls of HPWCs available for these owners to use. More detail here.

It would be interesting to see if Tesla charges in Ireland & similar countries where they are just launching & Public charging is still free and distributed decently.

I don't see them changing the model to free at those locations. Supercharging hardware, rent, and power costs still exists and the fact that they have already instituted paid charging across the network probably means that they will do so for new locations as well. If Irish Tesla owners can charge elsewhere for free, it doesn't stop Tesla from seeing a demand curve that is affected by competing "free" sources. The fact is EV charging for free is not a sustainable model as long as the power costs something.

So all the future markers are centered on the city center and those that duplicate existing Superchargers are shown at the city center instead of the current location (assuming these mean they are expanding the existing location not adding a second location to a small town)

Also interesting that there are future bubbles shown in Tigard (where there is a Mall store) and Portland (where a new store/service center should be opening next month). will they be adding a few SCs at each store/SC location? (and really kinda sad that what looked like it could be a location well north of Portland on the non-zoomable map is actually shown within Portland - so heading to/from Seattle will still have a 90 mile gap between Portland and Centralia where there is a SC (better than it currently is with a SC 30 miles south of Ptld and 90miles north and nothing close to Seattle), but still was hoping that bubble blob was 20 or so miles further north

Very excited for the urban expansion. It will help to aleviate an issue for street parking and condos. I don't think the map locations are close to accurate. In Mississauga one is our city hall and the other is a very quiet residential street 5 km from the highway. I think the actual locations will be different up to a few km.

I just hope this change in strategy doesn't take away from the real point of Supercharging- long distance travel. What worries me most is the line
"In addition, many sites will be built further off the highway to allow local Tesla drivers to charge quickly when needed, with the goal of making charging ubiquitous in urban centers." What I want most from Superchargers is to be able to charge at rest stops, and where there are no rest stops, right off the highway. If we get both, then that's fine. But I would be concerned if from now on we don't see as much growth from these types of locations.

This is all great, folks.
What I would like to add to the wish list is a similar map showing the future expansion in Service Center locations... :)

Oh, good, thanks, @MelindaV ! Need to check out the European map!
If you have the link readily available, can you please post it? Grazie mille, as they say in Italy! :D
Asking because I can't seem to find the map for Service Centers - found it for SCs...

the link that @Gabzqc posted. all are on the same map, you just have to click the buttons at the bottom to turn on/off various choices.

@Michael Russo Just checked the map for service centres coming up this year and there is none.

https://www.tesla.com/en_EU/findus#/bounds/65,55,34,-11?search=service,&name=Europe
Melinda, @Gabzqc , feeling totally incompetent yet I can only find the SC map.
When I search on Service Centers, I only see a list, with (apparently no option to get them on the map). In addition to that, as now confirmed by you, Gazbqc, it does not appear from the list like there are any expansion plans for the whole SW quarter of France (let alone elsewhere in EU?!), which I find amazing... with closest one to our future home in Pau still in Bordeaux, 3 hours away. o_O
