Found this website for counting how many reservations as well as estimating your delivery date. Not sure how accurate it is but you can check it out here.

http://tesla3counter.com/

I entered my info and here is what it sent to me:

"The date and time you provided for your email confirmation was: 04/02/2016 12:42AM (America/Toronto).

Based on the above information, your estimated position in line is 303,683 and shipping date is February 2020."

This seems much farther away than mid-2018, which is what I was really expecting to see.

there was a ton of conversation about that site on the TMC forum and it essentially sounded like it was full of BS and no logic to it at all. IE it would list a bay area 3/31 reservation as mid 2020 also. PLUS, at least at the initial release of the site, it was asking owners to provide way too much confidential information.

I found it to be way off. The site did not allow me to enter the true day I reserved the car, being March 31, in the morning at the store. It also didn't let me enter where I placed the order, by state. I had to pick the closest place. Unless I'm wrong about ordering times it might account for, such as overseas, I think the site is WAY off and does more to scare than help.

Yah, I think this site is just some data gathering and really doesn't have a good algorithm for tracking this legitimately.

I would be VERY wary about this. You entered your REAL name and a valid email address. That is a damn good start for a phishing scammer to get into more important accounts of yours.

Not keen on this thing. The reservation numbers mean nothing other than the first 2 digits which represent a store order or an online order. There's no way of figuring out exactly where you are in the system. Besides, when you get your car is based solely on your geographical area and how highly-optioned your car is along with how fast you confirm your order when asked to.

If anyone is going to fill in the fields make sure you give it a throw-away email account. Everyone has one of those right???? :D

Based on what Tesla gave me their estimated spot for me is 28,598 with a June delivery. Strange because that's kind of what I figured I'd expect our car.

my fingers are crossed that your estimate for June is correct! Meaning I would be driving around in mine prior to June, when the Washington State sales tax exemption expires (if not sooner!).
Personally, I've been telling myself mine would be delivered in April 2018 - nothing scientific behind that date, just some rough assumptions ;)

I haven't seen an update recently on the number of reservations made. Anyone know if we are approaching the half million mark yet?

Reservations are bound to taper off. Anyone considering a reservation now given over 400K cars in the queue so far might be turned off. Let's not forget however that 400K reservations don't necessarily turn into confirmed orders. Lots of people will cancel or change their minds.

In addition, many, some say as much as half, are outside of North America so the delivery time may not be as long as some may think when they see that number.

Hi All,

I just left a fairly long email on the www.teslamotors.com website explaining an idea that I would love for them to implement for us Model 3 Reservationists.

I told them it would be great if they could make a special section on their Tesla app for people that have a reservation for a Model 3 that would show an actual realtime counter showing the person's number in the reservation queue.

I explained that I know they will be delivering the first cars to people that are close to the manufacturing plant and to employees and owners of previous Tesla cars first and thats all fine. They could state in the app that the number is an approximation and does not mean delivery will be done as per the number.

But the app could track an approximate number that would change. In the case where people in front of me change their minds and cancel their reservations then my number in the queue would lower. That would be so nice to see.

The same thing should happen once they start delivery, every time someone gets their Model 3 delivered everyone else's number in the queue should lower.

I just think it would make the long wait for the Model 3 a little more bearable, just like this site and TrevP's videos do.

I hope my email doesn't fall on deaf ears, I was at a Tesla Store today and two of the sales people I talked to also have a reservation. So maybe the employees in Tesla would also like to see this app.

Does anyone here have any higher contacts in Tesla to put this idea forward? If so please do.

Cheers,
Nowhereman

I rated your post optimistic because I like it, but feel that when Tesla decides to insert people ahead of us, that would also serve to piss us off...

A two year wait for a Tesla is actually not that bad... Compared to Sig reservations from previous customers. Think $40k for 3 years for many.

I'm surprised at how much hate these guys are getting.
Yes, I think their algorithm isn't very accurate. But I think it's just some Tesla fans trying to figure stuff out from extremely limited data.
