I'm hoping you guys can help me understand the range on the Model 3. I mapped a distance from GA to FL that's showing me 3 Supercharger stops on the Model 3 (Long Range Battery). When I map the same distance with a Model S (100 kWh Battery Performance) it needs only 2 Supercharger stops.

The range on the Model 3 is 310 miles while the Model S is 315 miles. Is it because of the difference in kWh?

Edit:
I just used an address that's only 6 miles closer to the destination and the map changed to 2 stops for the Model 3. Maybe that explains why the 5 extra miles on the Model S had only 2 stops as well. I wonder if it'd be safe to skip the Macon Supercharger. It's a 5 minute stop that's out of the way and in a really sketchy area.

Try it with this: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/. Lots of settings you can play with.

I guessed on your stop and start points. Looks like it's doable, but you're running close to empty by destination arrival. If it were me, I'd stop either stop in Macon or drive a little slower at the outset. And of course spend more time in Lake City to "top up" the charge.

thank you so much for this. It is truly fascinating to see how changing a single variable changes where you stop. I will keep this bookmark.

Thanks again

https://evtripping.com also has a number of settings you can tweak. It also takes into account live weather or weather at the planned time of departure (future or past). Temperature can make a big difference.
