I'm also interested in other users with fast charge battery.
Questions:
* Does it power on automatically?
* Does it charge the battery sufficiently to supply the power to the wireless pad?

I took more measurements. Samsung S7+. Based on time to complete charge displayed on phone, approximately 20% faster charging with 12V fast charge adapter vs. USB port. I would assume it would be same with the battery.

For those of you who have had the Taptes delivered, how many days after it cleared customs did it get it?

This is the last update 2 days ago:

I've been following the various solutions that have been popping up - from Jeda to Nomad to Taptes. I didn't like the look of the Jeda so I only bought the Nomad and Taptes.

A lot of misinformation has been posted, with people claiming that the two must've been made in the same factory. Clearly, they've never tried both products!

Firstly, the Nomad:
Nomad.jpg
It has a more rubbery feel, is thicker and certainly has a bit more weight to it. Once installed, it sits flush where it's supposed to be. The downside is that due to the thickness, taller phones (such as my Pixel 3 XL with a slim case) prevent the compartment from closing. An iPhone X caused no so such problems. This was shipped from LA.

Now, the Taptes:
Taptes.jpg
It has a more plastic feel and is slimmer and lighter. Its dimensions were also not as exact as the Nomad, which causes it to shake and rattle around. It did come with some adhesive pads but this seems like a Band-Aid solution. The upside is that even with my large phone, I could still close the compartment. This was shipped from China.

I will probably keep the Nomad over the Taptes since it seems to be of higher quality overall. And after spending $50,000 - $80,000 on the car itself, the $80 difference seems quite negligible.

I ordered a Taptes and it's been stuck in customs at LAX for a few days. With the government shutdown, will I ever get it ? Might have to order a Nomad after all.

Jeda just announced a new 'second generation' wireless charging pad that looks very well thought out. I've been watching these discussions here and elsewhere quite closely and debating which one I might buy, but Jeda may have one me over with this design.

Thanks for the info. Where was the announcement made? Curious to see what it looks like.

8 days after released from customs for me.
@joshuaali. Were you able to compare function also? Did you test with a USB meter? Do they charge at the same output power and speed?

Mine was in customs from January 4th until 7th is on its way to my house now, FWIW.

@JWardell.
Using a USB meter with the 12V QC adapter, the voltage was 9V and the maximum current I got was around 1A for maximum 9W. The current at the charge pad should be even less.

I have an iPhone X and the GPS doesn't work at all when on this charging pad (normal charge version). Anyone else have this issue?

I've tried other Qi chargers in roughly the same location and didn't have the issue. So either seems like this is a noisy charger, or mine specifically is defective. Emailed Taptes about it a couple days ago and haven't heard back yet.

I have it and it doesn’t work. No matter what I do. Take away the extra power pack and it works just fine. Trying to get help from Tapes but no reply yet. I would boy pay an extra $30 for the extra power.

Hi everyone! Given all the customs issues, I am posting an alternative solution to the Taptes.

I bought two slim fast chargers for $12 each on amazon.

FASTPAD Ultra-Slim Qi Wireless... Amazon product
This is what it looks like in my M3. It works great! Fast charging for both phones. We have iPhone XS and XS Max and they fit well and charge simultaneously. Just an alternative!

yeah i don't see how an extra battery pack would actually work... especially if it needs to be charged in order to provide charge
