Not sure how many of you have visited a Tesla service centre (not a showroom) but I've noticed the one closest to me (Lawrence street in Toronto) is completely overwhelmed with deliveries and servicing Model S/X.

There is another location opening in the GTA in Oakville but that's an hour drive for me to reach if I need service. Event though Tesla has said they're planning on more than doubling their showrooms/service centres by the end of 2017 I still think it's not enough.

Thoughts?

I hope that Tesla would put a Service Center/Store here in the Syracuse NY area. The Westchester NY & Paramus NJ & Montreal locations are all 4 hours away. Syracuse would be perfectly situated being in Central New York

I imagine either we'll see a huge push to expand service centers or maybe some strategic partnerships. I can't see them doing it but maybe they'd partner with a chain like Midas to do some really basic service so it was only the more serious cases that needed to go to a Tesla centre.

Comments from a French perspective (I will have moved to Pau, a city of 130K people in the SW of France, by the time I get my Model ≡ hopefully by end 2018...). Today the nearest store and service centre is in Bordeaux, 3 hours away!! So I sure hope T≡SLA beefs up their footprint in the SW by then... Hopefully at least in Toulouse - still > 2 hours away, if not actually in Pau itself... Please...!

Let us NOT forget one of the amazing advantages Tesla has, OTA updates can fix things that would otherwise have to be brought in the shop for. I already had an experience like that. Don't need to have a service station in every town.

That is very true but not every situation or issue can be solved OTA. How far is reasonable to travel for Service Center or to visit a Showroom? As it stands today for me, it's four hours. If they put one in Albany or Buffalo NY, that would be roughly a two hour drive. Is that reasonable? These are things you have to consider when buying a Tesla. I'm further out than Model 3 buyers, I'm waiting for Model Y. So hopefully by then, Service Centers and Showrooms are more common place.

I live in AL and there is no Tesla presence that I can tell except a few Superchargers. But that's OK, since I wasn't planning a highly optioned 3 I expect after I configure there will be two more vehicle updates and the Model Y release before I either (1) get my car, (2) die of old age or (3) Tesla just decides not to sell to Alabamians at all. :eek: {sarcasm}

Time sure drags on when you're waiting for your Christmas presents.......

They did say they were going to double the amount of service centres by the end of 2017. Remains to be seen but I think hey need to quadruple it personally.

Yep. Double sounds like what they almost need now before Model ≡... :rolleyes:

Yes this could be a major issue for Tesla and owners going forward. The ramp up for production has to be matched by supercharging and service or the image of the company will quickly be tarnished. Hopefully this is in the plans.

There are 2 Service Centers, both at ~ 130 miles away in opposite directions. Hopefully when mine arrives in Q1 2019,the local showroom, only 40 miles away, will have added a Service Center .

Nothing at all in SC, just a couple destination chargers and 3 superchargers. The closest thing to me is Charotte NC(3.5hrs) . I can't lie, I'm a little nervous about things going wrong. It seems that when even something small goes wrong it goes wrong in a big way. From the little bit I've been able to see on youtube and customer reviews the car turns into a giant paper weight. Impossible to move or get in, and not always the easiest to tow at times. This could get old really fast. I'm expecting some glitches but I'm praying that I never have a problem that causes the car to be immobile. That would totally suck, not to mention embarrassing. I'm pretty sure that TESLA has addressed most of the problems that would cause this situation though.

What about Tesla's mobile service program. Would they be dispatched in such a situation? I'm in SC as well and 3 hours away from both Charlotte and Raleigh. Planned on making service visits a shopping trip to Raleigh but what if the car is inoperable?

It's a passing concern for me as well. I live in WMass and the closest Tesla service center is in Boston area (at least 1 to 1.5 hours away). I'm hopeful Hartford, CT will get one. How does one find out where new service centers are going to be built.

I wonder if they will have more 'Tesla Rangers' in your area to assist. Either way, I don't have an answer. Just some thoughts.

We have a service center in Oklahoma City about an Hour and thirty minutes from me. Based on your post here I intend to visit this service center and see if what you describe holds true for my area as well. Of course region has a little to do with the volume of service and support needed. My area of the country is mainly pick up truck and SUV based so I anticipate less of a volume at this service center. But we'll see...
Thanks.
