My friends 2019 Model S charges at 400 miles per hour, mine about 200. Why?

  • Where are you two charging when you get these rates? At the same location?
  • Was there another Tesla sharing the same charger pair?
  • Which version of the Model S do you have? Which year & version does your friend have?

Here’s a snapshot of my most recent supercharge session for my Model X. It was charging at over 400 mph when the battery was at 44% charge. It had dropped to 213 mph when it got up to 65%. So the rate of charge is not a fixed value. It is also influenced by a myriad of other things. In addition to what is listed above, temperature is huge. I whine about it in the winter months but the summer heat also has its effect.
