I ordered the Model 3 Roof Rack and it's on it's way. I have paint protection film and a ceramic coating on my A pillar where the anti-abrasion tape would go. I'm wondering if the roof rack Anti-Abrasion Tape is necessary, or if should clean and try and get some of the ceramic coating off in that area so that the tape will actually stick to the PPF. Anybody have experience with this problem yet? Thanks.
Good question. I ordered the rack after I decided to get mine wrapped. No ceramic contemplated yet. Are the anti-abrasion tapes permanent? One-time use? Could one substitute those sticky pads for cell phones?
If you don't have a ceramic coating, I think the anti-abrasion tape should adhere fine to the ppf. I had my license plate mounted on the ppf before the ceramic coating was added and it stayed on fine. I don't know how the anti-abrasion tape compares to the 3M tape that they use with the license plate holder.
If I don't here from the forum, I will try my luck with Tesla.
if you already have PPF, you would not need the tape that comes with the roof rack kit. they include the tape to help prevent the paint from being scuffed.
