So read that the Performance variant now can be ordered with the aero wheels (off-menu). Is this true and if so, would that mean we'd soon be able to order a set of 18" aero wheels for our Performance models. Would love to get a set with winter tires. It'd help save power during the cold winters, the tires would help with grip, and the fact they're 18 (and therefore cheaper) would ease the pain of the inevitable curb rash they'll get parking in Chicago streets during winter.

Unfortunately it looks like the 18” aero wheels have not been modified to fit around the bigger brakes that came with the Model 3 Performance w/ PUP so this will not work. I was hopeful as well as it would be nice for some more efficient aero wheels for winter and just road trips :\ @Mad Hungarian’s company has some aero wheels coming out soon that should be quite interesting for this use case (and they fit the Model 3 Performance w/ PUP).

@shareef777 no, the Performance model you are referring to has the standard brakes as the RWD and D models. The 18's are no different, so they still do not fit the Performance models with red brakes as the rear calipers hit the barrel. As mentioned, Fast Wheels is coming out with an 18" with wheel covers.

Thanks for the clarification. I find it weird that TireRack and other 3rd party companies offer 18" wheels for the Performance models, but not Tesla. I'd prefer to get OEM wheels/tires for winter, but 20" wheels are NOT ideal for Chicago winters.

weird, odd, perplexing, frustrating, and almost infuriating.
