Has anyone seen or noticed a completely different color white on the front and moreso back bumper of the pearl white. Just drove up to the store and saw my car two days before delivery and there it was. White next to a q-ball like bumper. I realize I’m jumping the gun and they haven’t had a chance to detail and inspect but now I’m starting to worry.

that is pretty common with lighter colors, specifically metallics, in some lighting and how it works off the metal vs the poly bumpers.

here's one of the RCs photographed last september...

ETA: here's an article from a body shop on why this happens

My wife’s white Hyundai has this same issue. It’s not bad and only certain angles where you really see it — but it’s tough when the bumpers are plastic and the car is metal. You also notice it on the lip spoiler on her car.

Thanks for the insights. So mine was next to a few other whites with much less noticeable differences. I’d be ok with the other ones but I’m hoping when I pick it up Tuesday they can put in a work owed order on a replacement bumper that is more true like the other white ones there

I have a pear white vin 118x delivered on 3/31. There is a slight color variation on the rear bumper vrs the body panel. As discussed this is very common among white cars. Some manufacturers get clever and will two tone paint or a separation of some type to break up the color contrast. I have seen this color variation across almost all makes and models. On my model 3 it's not so pronounced as the photograph above. It depends on the lighting conditions, angle. Interesting it's only the rear bumper. The front bumper doesn't exhibit the same color variation.

Good luck and I'm sure Tesla will make it right if you are unhappy with the paint on delivery.

I was supposed to pick up my new car in Pearl White tomorrow. The delivery specialist called to tell me they found a color mismatch and were going to have the bumper repainted. No ETA yet on how long it will take, but they did mention they had a large batch of white cars in Northern Va (Tyco Road) experiencing this and are going to be sending them en masse to a body shop.

Needless to say, I am really frustrated, but better they take care of this now than at some point in the future.

Keep us posted please. When I asked my 'local' (>200 miles) service center about doing a double check on color mismatch before I pick up the car, he almost started scolding me and insisted this would never get past Q&A (guess he was tired of people asking about the checklist).

At least it sounds like some locations are aware of it. I just hope it's a directive from the Mothership.

Quick update: I received a voicemail from the delivery advisor, and car is expected to be back by Saturday "at the latest". This is a pretty quick turnaround, so if the results are good I am happy. I don't think Tesla corporate had anything to do with it, they originally said the detailer noticed the color mismatch. Fingers crossed the colors match and everything else is without issue.

The car was received back by the Tyco Rd / Tysons location on Friday and checked by the delivery advisor who had been helping through this process Saturday at 10AM. They scheduled us promptly for delivery at 3PM, and I couldn't be happier. The paint looks great, and the only issue I found was the charge port door not closing flush (saw this reported by a few other folks) which will be dealt with in a future service appointment.

The car is awesome, a really neat change from my 2015 BMW 535.

Glad to hear this is something they are willing to fix. I wasn't sure they would. I'll definitely be looking out for the same when I get mine in a few months.

Mine's there right now as well! Hope they do a good job with matching the paint.

Nice! hopefully they will get it right, They said I might get the car back today, I will be sure to report how it turned out.
I was going to PM you for your update. My car repaint is done but they are keeping it for rear glass replacement (again) so I won't see it for a while since they don't have the replacement part. Please post pics or PM me some pics!

Just got a call, there are still few other issue the body shop didn't take care of so they are going to send it back. Should have it by end of next week.
