When I posted this thread I had something in mind to be revealed at a later date.

There several sources who believe that there are not one but two products currently being developed by Tesla. Whether or not this is only speculation or if there some truth to it is something that has been on my mind daily .
First and foremost, this WAS a plan that Elon HAD. It might still be! Shhh it's a secret (LOL).

Now, Since that time, Tesla and Elon have been faced with a separate reality. The original thinking was that they would receive 3 to 4 times LESS reservations . Much less were expected by Tesla than they have actually received. He didn't know that #Teslamania was running ramped in all of us who wanted an S or X but couldn't afford them. . . . And we're waiting on E and Y to really make things SEXY.
Although the plan was to eventually get to the 500000 vehicles per year by 2020, as that is when the Gigafactory would be fully up and running, Plans inevitably have to be changed when you have 400000 orders in hand in no time flat and that could potentially be LOTS more if the above is true. . Especially if the second reveal is packed with surprises as expected above.
If you have the designs in the works to begin with, and you have to separately teach robots and personnel on each line anyways, then why not have both the model 3-E and the Model Y set up and running at the same time.
Elon /Tesla's options are 1&2 or 1&3, or 1,3,and (4 &/or 5)
1. Put in the original machines planned and true ordering will open up September 30, ending Q3, with an awesome start to 4Q as has been done in prior years.
2. Disappoint customers and investors by ONLY running 80K Model 3s through production in 2017, 120-140K in 2018, the rest in 2019 and beyond increasing with Tesla only reinvestment.
3. Go find more money / Archangel investors which will dilute the stock temporarily, and put MOAR Robots, MOAR production lines in the US Fremont plant and move up the 400-500K per year, while expanding the Gigafactory's output simultaneously. Much of the 370-acre (16,000,000 sq ft; 1,500,000 m2) site is unused, with most activity currently concentrated in the 5,500,000-square-foot (510,000 m2) main building that does the final assembly of vehicles
4. Expand the Tesla Netherlands plant (In a country that is looking to stop selling gas/Diesel cars by 2025). And or Expand other Tesla owned Manufacturing properties . . And supply half the units from there simultaneously.
5. Build a Plant in France or neighboring country and Make all European cars there. (LHD for Australia and UK could be in either location)
He has stated that there would eventually be at least a kit assembly plant in UK at some point in the future.
A few companies in Europe could very well get in the same situation that we had with Nevada and four other states here in the US. They could very well loan Tesla a big chunk of change to get things rolling, or even as much as hand over a government owned property to set up manufacturing in.
6. Less likely but possible - Buy another empty plant and start making cars there IF capacity is reached in Fremont.

China is a whole different ball game, which is for another discussion. But Hong Kong discussions have occurred.
While at MIT he was asked if everything would be made in the US, he had to dance around the question a bit, because Tesla is more of a multinational company than some would think, and you cannot offend potential future buyers or governments that might help in funding projects.
I wish I had bought stock when Tesla IPO'd . IF both are shown, this could turn into 1 Million orders quickly .
Otherwise Y-Not start being S3XY sooner rather than later. GM, Nissan, Porsche, VW,Ford, Faraday, BYD, Dyson, and others are coming to this party sooner rather than or later.....
