Hi, I'm hoping to get my Model 3 soon. I'm an employee family member so hopefully seeing my 3 soon, had the option to get first production run end of September/beginning of October, but opted to wait for the white interior. Really liked the white interior and thought it was worth waiting on. So hopefully this means that they are moving along in production. I configured the car the night of Model 3 reveal so hopefully that gives a bit of insight on where they are at in production.
If anyone rides motorcycles in San Diego and knows of any good routes let me know, I just got stationed in the area.

Welcome to the site!

Million dollar question coming your way, you opted for something (white interior) that was not first production. Did the configurator show you the white interior and provided an estimate or did you have to defer the order?

The configurator did no show the white interior, my brother knew that was one of my major wants with the car. We got information about the white interior being an option but not right away. We ended up deferring my order, sales got in touch a few weeks ago to find out if I wanted the car end of September/beginning of October or if I still wanted to wait for the white interior. I decided to wait instead of getting one of the very first Model 3's, would rather the white leather seats over the black leather seats to minimize skin burning.

Thanks for confirming that!

I want white as well, but I’m not waiting. I’ll just make sure to have it cool the interior before I get in .

I’m a first day line sitter about 10th in line at Burbank). I’ll let you sit in the hot black interior of mine if mine comes first!

Welcome! Would've been awesome to have someone with an early production release here in San Diego, but I'm glad you're getting what you want. :) Did they give you any kind of estimated date?

Lots of good roads around the area. I suggest checking out Palomar mountain (it's up the 15 freeway by the 76).

I sold my bike a couple years ago due to the fact I never had a chance to ride it other than for commuting, which kind of ruined the whole fun of it.

Haha yea I figured that was an acceptable option as well but personally really liked the dark exterior with the light interior look. Figured Paint is easier to change than interior and seats lol.

Thanks, yea would have loved to have one of the early productions. I'm more comfortable with the early production of the 3 than a S or X, figured they would have worked out those kinks and quality control problems already... or hoping so at least. Last I heard is that the white interior should be in production before the end of the year...

I heard about Palomar, I'll need to check it out. Also heard there's tons of cops up there ticketing for everything... Anything I should know about riding in SoCal with a modded R1?

Yeah, I take my MR2 up there occasionally. FUN!
Brapp! MR2's are my realistic dream sports car. Which is taking a backseat because I'm getting my realistic dream car earlier? lol funny how things workout :D

So just checked, the new status for delivery is October-December. I think I'm going to either take an employee lemon X with AP2 and white interior or Model 3 whichever comes up first by the end of the year. I don't think I'm going to wait into 2018 to get the car and both are at the same price range.

What does employee lemon X mean? I’m thinking demo car, but not sure that’s what you mean?

Nice! It looks to be in really good condition still too! Where's this picture taken at?
Not to go too far off-topic.. :)

Pic was taken across the street from my house a couple of years ago when it snowed here. I baby that thing, and to this day it does look like I just drove it off the lot. In the last few months I've added:

  • New windshield
  • New bumper cover and paint
  • New leather upholstery
  • New headlights
  • New fog lights
  • New tail lights
  • New center brake light
  • All lights converted to LEDs
  • New canvas top
  • Lots of various and sundry under the hood improvements.
I'm just trying to decide whether or not to sell it when I get my 3...

I say that, but I"m pretty sure I'll keep it-this IS SoCal after all, and I need a convertible!

The cars Tesla bought back as lemons they fixed and are selling them to employees, and also the demo and test drive cars too.

12/30/14! That was such a weird night. People were outside at midnight yelling "IT'S SNOWING!!!"

The snow stuck at my place for nearly a week.
Oh wow I don't know how I didn't hear about it snowing in SoCal lol, or maybe I did and just forgot about it.

Interesting! I really never thought about what happened to a car after it was lemon-ed. Part of me would have thought those cars were sent to the wrecker.
