But you and the Youtuber don't know what the costs are. Tesla may have had a long term structured contract that is ending. It might have been some really good pricing for x years or to support the first 300,000 cars and then the structure takes a huge jump or goes to a per car pricing. You simply don't know. No one does, so it just simply someone else with a camera and a viewpoint. I'm OK with that, but don't take it for pure truth.
I totally agree with you. However, one thing we can say for certain is that the new premium connectivity revenue is greater than the zero revenue Tesla had before 2020 with free premium connectivity. Costs are unknown (and could be flat, declining or increasing), but revenue definitely will increase.

Well... It's January 2, 2020 and I still have my premium connectivity without payment... As of this morning, while driving to work, I can get navigation, live traffic, satellite map views, and music streaming... I ordered my LR RWD Model 3 with premium interior and EAP on April 2016... Vehicle delivered on September 2018... I guess I'll wait to see what happens in the next few weeks on whether they stop the services on my Model 3... Stay tuned!!!

I suspect you have Free Unlimited Premium Connectivity like many of us that got our cars around the same time as you. April 2016 was your "reservation" date, not "order" date. It's the order date that matters. They opened up all reservations for orders around June 26-27, 2018. As long as you configured and ordered your car before July 1, 2018, you should have unlimited Premium Connectivity for as long as you own the vehicle.

To confirm, log into the website, Manage your vehicle, and View Details. Under Options look for Premium Connectivity, Free Unlimited.

Pure speculation but maybe if/when 5G becomes available it’s not covered (after hardware upgrade) and additionally maybe car has a hot spot would be an additional option

I went back and looked at my wife’s Monroney sticker and the MVPA and neither reference the 1 year free. I remember it being on the order page up front, but yeah it really should be in the signed documentation and it’s nkt

There is a history of the sales team not having accurate information unfortunately

Nothing on my Monroney sticker either, nor on the purchase order or bill of sale. I've looked at all my paperwork and there is no mention that I was getting a trial period or Premium. Premium was inferred ever since I was on the waiting list. Any web site indication could have been changed by TESLA at any time. I was invited to order June 28 and by the time I saw colors and final options, I ordered July 7. At no point between June 28 and July 1 did I see a notification that I had to order in two days in order to qualify for life time premium. This is just basic bait and switch. Does anyone know of a phone number or working email that we can elevate this to? Since there is nothing in our contracts, I believe we have a legitimate claim.

What is in your contract that says you were supposed to have Free Lifetime Premium?

The ordering page indicated it was a trial. There is no claim otherwise.

The contract was silent as to whether it was Lifetime nor a one-year trial.
The key here and not trying to truly be a jerk about it, but there are many of us here that know it was made widely known by Tesla several weeks in advance that the once Lifetime Premium was going away as of 7/1/2018. They published it and I know we discussed it here on the forum.

Tesla is almost like the airlines (truly not that bad however) about changing prices, added Supercharging, Connectivity, modifying prices, etc. They have done that to the S and X many times.

Best of luck to you tracking down Tesla, but unfortunately you didn't see when it changed, but it was noted weeks before the actual change happened.

Thanks for the info but, no my ordering page did not indicate that. The order confirmation emails did not either. And conveniently, TESLA has made it very difficult to find a number or email to elevate the situation to.
The thing is... yes it did and it’s exactly the same if you go configure now. When you read more details about the option packages it explains the connectivity plan.

I’m sorry but I have a hard time getting behind this sense of entitlement. Even if you missed the language regarding the trial period of connectivity during your ordering process, you have zero language anywhere that supports you have lifetime connectivity.

Why would you pursue that?

I paid for Premium Connectivity on Jan 1st, and I see the charge on my credit card processed that day. However my tesla.com account still shows "Pending Payment" and my vehicle shows Standard Connectivity. I logged in to tesla.com and started a chat with a support specialist who acknowledged what I saw but wasn't able to activate Premium, and so needed to escalate the issue. I'm rather irritated that the charge went through, but the service I paid for hasn't been activated even 3 days later. (Particularly since we're doing a small road trip today and I wanted the live traffic.)

Mine is all worked out now that I updated my credit card to be a valid card. I got an email from them at 5:27 AM saying "Enjoy Premium Connectivity" and my online account shows all is in working order. So if you're still having an issue of any kind on the Tesla account page, you might double check your credit card.

Most any kind of small bug or issue with it not working properly for anyone else will likely work itself out over 48 to 72 hours. Make sure your cc is valid and give it a day or two to process.

I got that email too, although I never had any problem with losing premium connectivity. I had signed up to continue it sometime at the end of December, but my card was not charged. This email says it will be charged today, and my account shows ongoing charges will occur on the 4th of each month.

Man, i hope they eventually allow satalite maps for wifi only. Plan on using my mobile hotspot instead of paying the $10/mo. Call me cheap but once you experienced napster, you hate paying for music again 😂

Man, is there a way to NOT automatically turn WiFi off when you put the car in drive? Ugh, you already got rid of the pretty maps. Just let me use my own WiFi for free
No known way. They do it automatically. I'm sure it is to force the car to disconnect from a home wifi overnight and search for and pick up the LTE signal right away. However, now that it isnt free for everyone I'm sure they need to have this thought put in front of them and all a check box for "If using tethering - then don't turn off wifi" - something along that nature.

Has there been announcement for us folks in Europe? I'm getting close to my delivery data of Feb 15, and I don't see anything related to a possible expiry date in my account:

It.'s not unusual for Tesla to fail to accurately update your account. Perhaps they haven't updated in Europe yet, and perhaps they will never update your's. Enjoy it while you've got it. This is a rare benefit to Tesla's lousy internal controls.
