At some point my charging port door stopped opening when I pressed it in (that's what it's supposed to do if you didn't know).

The reason it stopped working is that the little trapezoidal metal insert that is supposed to be glued into the inside of the charge port door fell out.

I used a small square of two-sided tape to hold a steel washer in place there, and now it works fine. At some point I'll replace it with the real thing when there's some other reason to be at service or to have a mobile visit. I'm a big believer in not wasting Tesla Service's time if it can be helped.

Anyway, check yours in case you can use this DIY tip.

This is a great easy fix.
Mine fell out when I touched it. So I have the part. I actually have my car in service and didn't even mention it because I never open it that way.
