Delayed Production?

Guess I can't post a URL as a new member, but if you go to the Model 3 Reservations FAQ page, there is some conflicting information regarding when the production of the Model 3 will begin.

Could possibly be that all of the cars produced will be going directly to fulfill orders but it clearly states, "Once we begin production at the end of 2017".
Thoughts?

Guess my attachment also did not upload correctly? Sorry.
When will my Model 3 be delivered?
Model 3 production is scheduled to begin in mid 2017.
When can I test drive Model 3?
We will provide the opportunity to get behind the wheel of Model 3 once we begin production at the end of 2017.

Just checked mytesla:
Your Model 3 was reserved on 3/31/2016. Deliveries will begin in late 2017.
@Jay_Gee , first of all, a hearty welcome to M3OC!! You'll see, we're a closely-knit bunch from all around the world here! :)
The MyTesla page seems to continue to show different things to different people...
Mine, for a much later reservation date (10/10)... and in Europe, says 'production is planned to begin in 2017'...
One thing is for sure, you should get yours waaaaay before I get mine... and I'll be happy for ya!;)

There is a bit of mixed information but the current speculation is production will begin next year and they'll be mostly selling them in areas around the factory and to employees first so they can fix issues as they come up as with real world miles across many people there are bound to be problems. All the while they'll be ramping up to hit 4-500k cars come 2018. Chances are there will be 30-50k of them made in 2017 so you'd have to be in Californiaish to get one, that's my speculation anyway. My current thought is seeing it within a year of the 'final reveal' to happen sometime in the spring. I'd hope by June 2018 at the latest for mine.

@Michael Russo
Agreed.
I originally didn't think I would get mine until Summer of 2018 which will probably still be the case but hoping for early 2018.
The main point of my original post was to identify an official Tesla website that states that production will begin late 2017. All of the official statements have been made say they are on schedule for 3rd quarter 2017 production (July). Oh well, we will all be waiting and get to drive an awesome car. Glad to have found the forum.

I guess I have not looked closely at that FAQ page for a while...

"At this time, the delivery estimate for new reservations is mid 2018 or later, depending on country of delivery."

So it seems that Tesla Rep that last month told me my 3/31/2016 reservation would only be delivered in 2019 is all wet. Thanks for the good news ;)

Noooo wait.
Received a call now from Elon.
He's offering me one of the prototypes just because I've been such a good Tesla evangelist
oh great, amigo! And while you had him on the phone, I trust you took this great opportunity to make a big play at the ideal location for the EU-based GigaFactory 2... in Portugal! ;)

Since its expected vehicles will not begin production until after July and delivery until part way thru the third quarter, both at the earliest, saying production starts mid 2017 and delivery late 2017 is correct (just not precise)

As stated in earlier posts by some of us, e.g. most recently by @Brian_North in his post #5 above

we ought to realistically see several tens of thousands Model ≡ delivered (presumably mostly on the West Coast) by the end of 2017. In order to meet the target of 400k produced in 2018, they'll want be at a monthly rate of at least 30k by YE17... I have good confidence they will do all to accomplish that and nothing up to now indicates that they won't! So let's keep our spirits up!!

Don't really disagree but I think they've been trying to temper 2017 expectations. I imagine they've been working on their fleet of 300 or so prototypes that we will start seeing kicking around soon. Perhaps they will be able to get 100k out the door by late next year, who knows! Could be their strategy to get production really into full gear without raising a bunch of capital. I still think mid 2018 for Canada, our government will be slow allowing it.

Brian, your comment on the Canadian government, is that based on any evidence or is it your opinion?

Mostly based on the ModelX. Tesla had some part in that too. I guess the approval process isn't overly fast but ontop of that Tesla was a bit slow (I think Trevor mentioned 6 months) which contributed to the delay. I imagine Tesla will be much quicker in submitting the required info to the government for the 3.

There is that one line that says that production will begin at the end of 2017.

So unless I missed something along the way, it would seem that the My Tesla page for:

- Early U.S. reservation holders says "deliveries will begin in late 2017"

- Early foreign reservation holders says "production is planned to begin in 2017"

The foreign market message obviously leaves a lot more wiggle room as to when non-US cars will start to arrive.
Here's mine taken from right off the page:

Anyone here have something different?
