A Collingwood company Medatech, founded in 2003 (BTW, Tesla was founded the same year), is making a name for itself for its innovation in the mining industry by turning diesel vehicles to electric by replacing the drive train to a battery-powered system.

“Instead of putting diesel machines underground, a lot of mines are moving to electric. It’s a lot better for the workers and it’s less expensive to operate the mine with electricity versus diesel, because you don’t have to ventilate the space as much.”
