Are there heated mirrors available?
The PUP description in the press release indicates that it includes:
  • Auto dimming, power folding, heated side mirrors
... so in theory, the answer is yes. It's unclear whether the current firmware version enables them and under what circumstances, but the hardware is supposed to be there if you order the PUP. Either way, I expect that the heated mirrors will be fully functional by the time non-employees start taking delivery, if they aren't already.

There’s nothing in the software yet to control anything other than he front seat heat. Tesla is still working on the Model 3 software.

Is it possible that the heated mirrors turn on automatically when you activate the rear defroster? That seems to be how they work on the Model S/X, so it would make sense if it worked that way on the 3. If the "cold weather" screen arrives later via software update, we should be able to confirm this by looking for a red halo around the side-mirrors.

FWIW, the heated mirrors on my old Volt were were also activated by pressing the rear defroster button -- ditto for my wife's Subaru Outback. Volkswagen still seems to prefer manual activation through the mirror-adjustment knob, for whatever reason... which makes it all too easy to leave your heated mirrors on well into the dog days of summer!

It's too bad all of the owners we know of are in California or Texas, where weather cold enough to need heated side mirrors is pretty much non-existent. Otherwise we could ask one of them to check.

Maybe we could convince @PTFI to take a trip to Tahoe for a few days to find out. :)

The key word in this and many other questions is ‘yet’... there are some definite advantages to being in the ‘Late 2018’ lot!! ;)
