I don't think this information has been released, but what do we think is the most likely scenario?

All along, Tesla stated on their Model 3 FAQ page:

we will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east.
But... that's been all but verified as complete BS and we know USA will get it before Canada.

So... when it *does* eventually get to Canada, should we expect it to be West to East as per that document? Or is it more likely to be Ontario first due to population? Or national roll-out?

What are peoples' thoughts?

You can count on California getting most of the initial production. After that who knows...

But if I was guessing I'd say we will be included in the west to east coast roll out at the same time as the US

Really? I thought previously you had argued with me on that point :) I always figured that's what they meant, but EVERY article and pretty much every person (and I thought that included you?) had always said it will be USA California, USA West (probably OR, WA) then move east, THEN Canada.

Tesla has said initial California roll out for quick fixes. After I think they follow broad geo pattern 5-10 states at a time. I suspect the Canadian reservations are pretty concentred around Vancouver; Edmonton/Calgary, Regina where Maye was born cause Elon loves his mom; Winnipeg, GTA; Ottawa/Montreal; Halifax.

I suspect they will link this to US tax incentive structure but not leave us waiting too long.

Perhaps a hint could be teased out about Model 3 delivery concentrations, areas and/or dates based on the "go live" dates of the new supercharger installations? I would imagine that delivering a bunch of Model 3s without having a supercharger "nearby" may not be in their plans. Just a random thought...

As an aside... I wonder how they'll determine who is "west coast"?

My address is in Kelowna... clearly not "coast", as I'm 3.5 hours inland. But the Vancouver Tesla store is where I'll be picking up, so I consider myself just as "coast" as someone living in Vancouver... since the delivery is exactly the same. I meant to ask Tesla when I spoke to them... if I should change my address on record to be the Vancouver Tesla store :)

I don't think they can deliver to Canada simultaneously with the US orders since the Canadian cars may be slightly different due to certain standards/regulations (although not emission standards I guess) - maybe someone can confirm?

Red seat belt buttons... check
D.R.L.... check (programmable anyway)

That's it. Regulations really has nothing, or at least very little, to do with it.

Tesla has very different configurations between Canada and the US. US made Tesla’s are not even eligible for import (a number of ex-pats moving to Canada have found that out the tough way). That has also lead to a massive price difference between used Tesla’s on either side of the border.

In Vancouver area - my model 3 says expected delivery late 2018.

Every new Model S and x I’ve seen recently had the same interior colour matched seat belt release buttons as they are in the US. I don’t think that regulation is really enforced anymore or even valid.

All of Canada has “late 2018” as a universal date regardless of when your ordered or if you’re a current owner.

My thoughts on the matter are that Tesla is super focussed on US production for another year in order to deal with the Federal tax credit that many are counting on. The ramp speed suggests it as do the delivery estimates.

By the time the cars are ready for Canada I think it will be a national rollout and not west to east like the US

We’ll have to revisit come late December or sometime in January to see where things are. Until then put some money away while you wait!
