Many SoCal owner non-employees have already gotten invites. Just curious if any of these people had Standard Battery or AWD selected in their Estimator page? Tesla used to say that the selection won’t affect invite status or your place in line but the removed that wording. I’m just curious being that once the invite is received, you can choose to delay your order for later features that are yet TBD.

I will be waiting for Standard battery and possibly AWD (depending on price and availability date and tax rebate eligibility) but would I rather have the invite so that I can log into that page and play with my configs instead of not getting the invite later because of my choice on the Estimator page.

It's unrelated. As to why that selection existed in the first place, they were probably trying to make data based decisions on whether SR or AWD would be available first. In any case, I have two reservations. One was listed as first production, and the other as AWD. Both invites arrived at the same moment, and there are many data points besides mine indicating that there is no difference in that option. About the only thing you could do to get your invite faster, other than getting a job with Tesla, or buying a Tesla, is change your address to SoCal or the Bay Area, assuming you're not in one or the other already.

I did for the standard model, I also have an employee account thinking I would get first dibs. I have changed my mind and ordered the premium trim because I may miss out on there tax credit.

I live in SoCal and made 2 reservations in-store on 3/31/16 (not a previous owner, not an employee). I got the invite for first production in Feb. 2018, jumped on it, and received delivery 3/21/18.

I got the invite to configure AWD today (5/23/18) for my 2nd reservation. I ordered, and the delivery estimate is 12-16 weeks.
