Has anyone tried this? My wife is asking for reasonably priced birthday present ideas from inquiring family members and I think the chrome lettering would look pretty slick on my red 3.

Nice video. Did you have to take off a protective coating first? I have opti-coat pro on my car.

My car was ceramic coated after I installed the badge. If the coating isn’t very recent you should be fine as far as installing the badge and having it stick. The part that I’d be more worried about is when you take the “T” off you may have to polish as you saw in my video and so there could be an impact there.

Have it on mine for about 9 months by now. As SloFa mentioned, depending on your color, you might show the old badge. I just recently debadged my front as well, and depending on how the light hit it, you could clearly see the old badge outline, the black was a different shade. Some polish will take care of it though.

This still frame from my video shows it best and as you noted polish removes it. However because he has ceramic coating, the polish will also strip the coating.
