Battery drains 10 each night parked

Hi I’ve had my Y for about a month now. Just noticed it went from 108 miles left, then to 98, then to 88 today. I haven’t driven the car since last Sunday. What’s going on? Thanks

    SR battery pack open

Found this video from guys down in Nova Scotia. They actually have a few interesting videos. In this one they visit the Dalhousie research center. The way they hooked up the leaf battery pack, you know they know what they're doing. They were in the process of hooking up the SR pack for similar...

    Charge pre-heating

With a new software update coming that includes the car pre-heating the battery before it gets to a Supercharger, I'm curious how long the Model 3 needs to pre-heat the battery from say an outside temperature of 20F. Also, can we get that function for just pre-heating the battery before I leave...

    Charger powering car systems

Does a charging cable for the Model 3 charger power systems directly or through the battery? For example, if I run the heater while connected to a SuperCharger, does the heater draw power directly from the SuperCharger, or does it draw from the battery as the SuperCharger charges that battery?

Suggestion Which software updates are you wanting/expecting from your Model 3?

One of the biggest complaints about the car seems to be software features, but they can be updated over the air!! I'd like to use this thread to keep a running list of software updates that you're wanting, hoping for, or expecting based on Elon Musk's tweets/statements. So please let me know...

    The ‘vampire drain’ reference place

A chap in Reddit describes his first 10 days of ownership of Model 3 (link below). He does not plug in at home, they plug in at work and the vampire loss is quoted as 15 to 20 miles a day (with the caveat being one data point, YMMV, etc) on the weekends. Has anyone tried not plugging the car...

Banging sound while climbing hills in cold weather

Greetings! Brand new M3 Dual Motor Extended Range owner. Overall I'm thrilled with the car! But having one issue that I've seen posted on Tesla forums, but not here. I've searched on this forum and don't see any threads about same issue. When driving over mountain pass in cold weather (<32...

    Cold Weather Home Charging

We all know that that Model 3 does not have a dedicated battery heater to condition the pack, and that it uses waste heat generated from charging and the motor. My question is.. How do you know if the battery is preconditioning or preheating? I know theres the little battery icon on the app...

    Battery Breather service

I dropped my Model 3 off this morning at my local service center to have them look at a small issue and on the service list in addition to my issue they had a line for installing a 'Battery Breather'. Does anyone know what this is? I'm assuming it is a fix for some issue they may have found...

Plugged in just at night, or all day and all night?

I've read that "a plugged in Tesla is a happy Tesla" and plan to have my Model 3 plugged in every night at home. My workplace is going to be installing Tesla chargers soon however, which would allow me to charge at the office on the days that I'm there and save the electricity on my home bill...

    Battery vent louver issue?

Day 4 in my Model 3. I noticed on day 2 after working in the garage for a bit that the front battery vent louvers are opening and closing every 6 seconds. At first I thought it was happening only after a spirited drive (I'll be honest, this early they are all rather spirited!). However last...

M3 design - equipment mounted on firewall

Firewall is very important to the design and build of the M3. A lot of equipment is hung off both sides of it. The main computer can be seen on the inside of the firewall, it is not mounted in the dash, but covered by it. There is a big hole in the floor of the car for the battery ancillary...

Just read that the battery pack structure or envelope will be made of aluminum ally. Now I am not a Tesla expert (yet ) but isn't the one for the S made of stainless steel ? Aluminum in Québec doesn't last that long if it's not well engineered. See we like to pay taxes so the transportation...

The car as a home battery

I'd like to start a thread about using your vehicle as a battery for the house. With a 60kwH+ battery this could power most homes for a few days. When are we going to see the necessary electronic controls to match this with your static storage (Powerwall or similar)? Hopefully with the Model 3?

    Tesla Battery Technology

In case you missed a point in my Tesla battery video on Youtube, here's an article about wire bonding which is the technique employed by them to connect the cells together. A thin wire acts as a fusible link for each cell and doesn't require high temps to bond and thus doesn't damage the cell...
